Lee Anne’s Red Beans

1 lb dried pinto beans
1 large can Italian flavored chopped stewed tomatoes
4 Tbsp chopped garlic (prepared garlic in a jar is fine)
1 small can chopped green chiles
1 tsp chili powder
1 large onion, cut into chunks
Salt and pepper to taste
Garlic powder to taste
1 lb ground beef (about 80% lean)

According to directions on bean package, either do a quick soak or an overnight soak, whatever fits your schedule.  Drain and rinse beans and place in crock pot.  Add all the other ingredients (except the hamburger) and add water to cover.  Cook on high 6 hours or until beans are beginning to be tender.  Add UNCOOKED hamburger in chunks and stir well.  Continue cooking till beans are tender and meat is done, at least another hour.
